Abstract
Have you ever wanted to know more about... fish eggs? Come work with Prof Graybill on a project about caviar! I am looking for a student who is interested in helping me compile information about sturgeon and salmon caviar. This information would pertain to the ecological settings of sturgeon and salmon, the overfishing of these fish for resource extraction and trade, the cultural aspects of this luxury resource, and the impacts of climate change on sturgeon and salmon and thus the commodity of caviar itself. If your interests are interdisciplinary, then this project is for you! This project will entail conducting library searches across disciplinary subjects (biology, fisheries, cultural studies, history, trade, etc.), reading scientific manuscripts, and providing summaries of the readings. Ideally, you would have strong organizational skills and the ability to provide comparative understandings of environmental and cultural aspects of caviar across different world regions.
