Project Overview
Constraining the Spotted Nature of Young Low-Mass Stars
Department(s)
Physics and Astronomy
Abstract
The effects of cool star spots on the evolution of young sun-like stars is only now beginning to be exoplored by the star formation community. Their impact on the observable characteristics such as the effective temperatures and luminosities of these young stars is the focus of this work. Using moderate resolution optical and near-infrared spectra, we can constrain the effects of the spots on these fundamental characteristics and better determine the evolutionary statuses, masses, and ages for the stars.
