Abstract

In this project we investigate enhancing the bandwidth of communications with light by using rotating optical beams. The optical beams are prepared in light modes with rotating petals, and encode the information in the rotation of the petals. We also plan to use novel Einstein beams that we produced in the laboratory for transmitting the light. The work will involve setting up the optical apparatus with equipment to encode, transmit and decode the rotating beams. These activities involve programming with Matlab and some electronics. The student will be involved in all of these aspects.
