Abstract

The student on this project will spend time with ITS inventorying the locations of conduit, fiber runs, pathways, pull boxes, splice boxes, and similar integral infrastructure across campus and designing the geodatabase that best details the required information.  The student will then spend the rest of the summer taking geospatial data from a variety of sources, creating a usable map for ITS and then creating master document for future reference.  Depending on ITS needs and student flexibility, multiple applications might be utilized to produce final products that might be used years into the future for construction/expansion by ITS and Facilities.  Student will develop practical technical skills in GIS and see an entire small infrastructure project to completion.

The Geography Department encourages students interested in summer research to meet with potential faculty supervisors before submitting an application.
