Research management issues at multiple US national parks and help design internet-based surveys to estimate respondents' valuations of different aspects of each park.
Student work will include reading park management plans and/or contacting park managers to find out what the salient issues are in different parks, writing explanatory text so that survey respondents will be informed about those issues, and writing survey questions. Depending on student interest and qualifications, students may also be involved in analyzing survey results.
Ability to write concise but informative summaries of management documents
For survey design phase, prior experience with Qualtrics is desirable but not absolutely required
For survey analysis phase, knowledge of statistical methods (Econ 375 preferred)
