The Creative Writing Fellows will perform research and administrative tasks in support of the Colgate Writers Conference and the Living Writers series. Working closely with Jennifer Brice, Associate Professor of English, the four students who are selected will perform a myriad of tasks leading up to a major report. The tasks will include close reading and literary analysis, curating resources, doing online and library research, promoting arts initiatives on various social media platforms, populating an online course platform, and organizing a major conference, among others. The end-of-summer report will articulate how the Colgate Writers Conference and Living Writers mesh with each other, with the undergraduate curriculum, and with the broad vision set forth in Colgate’s Third Century Plan. It will also set concrete goals for the 2021 summer conference and Living Writers series, and it will identify ways to assess whether those goals are reached.
Strong reading, writing, speaking, and organizational skills. The selected applicants should be adept with social media (Twitter, Facebook) and online learning platforms (Moodle, EdX). They should be able to work independently and in a group, and they should be able to work under deadline and other pressures. Preference will be given to declared English or English/Creative Writing majors.
