The Central and Upstate New York Translation Project is a faculty-initiated research project that aims to produce English translations and annotations of various texts, originally written in French, that have as their main subject the land and people of upstate and central New York. This project, to be begun in the summer of 2018, will begin with the translation of the memoirs of Madame de La Tour du Pin (1770-1853), a French aristocrat and refugee from the French Revolution who lived in Albany, New York, in the late 1790's.
Students need to have completed at least one 400-level seminar in French literature.
